SDGforHer Delivers #1000forHer December Food Drive to 200 Women in Kebbi State

On the 29th of December 2025, SDGforHer Initiative successfully concluded the Kebbi State edition of the #1000forHer December Food Drive, reaching 200 women in Muhammad Layya School, Kebbi State. This outreach marked the third of three states for the 2025 #1000forHer intervention, an annual program focused on providing festive food relief to women-led households and vulnerable families across Nigeria.

Taking Food Relief to Where It’s Needed Most

Kebbi State was chosen deliberately. Rural women in northern Nigeria continue to face increasing food insecurity, worsened by economic pressures, insecurity, and limited access to social safety nets. Over 300 women attended, demonstrating the urgent need for food support during the festive season; however, we only accommodated 200 women.

Despite logistical challenges, including reduced flights into Kebbi and Sokoto and security-related delays that shifted the outreach from Despite logistical challenges, including fewer flights into Kebbi and Sokoto and security-related delays that pushed the outreach from 23 to 29 December, the SDGforHer team remained committed to delivering impact.

Beyond Food: Restoring Dignity and Hope

The #1000forHer Food Drive is more than food distribution. Alongside the delivery of carefully packed food boxes containing 5kg rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, seasoning and salt, women participated in short community conversations centred on:

  • The strength and resilience of women
  • Their critical role within families and communities
  • The importance of collective support during difficult times

Ms. Temitope Ibigbemi, speaking on behalf of SDGforHer Initiative, led an uplifting engagement that reminded women of their value, voice and power.

Strong Community Collaboration

The Kebbi outreach was supported by:

  • 18 volunteers, including 10 NYSC corps members
  • 5 community security officials
  • Local community leaders who ensured coordination and trust
  • Hudson Pacific Energy Limited, official sponsor of the intervention

Volunteers received Certificates of Community Service and stipends in recognition of their time, dedication, and impact.

Gratitude to Our Partners

Looking Ahead

The Kebbi State outreach reinforces why the #1000forHer Food Drive remains a critical hunger alleviation program in Nigeria. As we move into the remaining states, SDGforHer remains committed to ensuring that no woman or family is left behind in Nigeria.
