Every December, as festivities light up homes and families gather to celebrate, thousands of vulnerable households across Nigeria face a different reality, uncertainty about their next meal. At SDGforHer Initiative, we believe that no woman or family should experience hunger during a season meant for joy, rest and community. This belief gave birth to the #1000forHer December Food Drive, now entering its third year of impact in 2025.

What began as a small act of compassion has grown into a powerful annual intervention providing festive food relief to women-led households and vulnerable families across Nigeria.

From 150 Food Boxes to a Movement of Impact
The inaugural #1000forHer Food Drive in 2023 started with just 150 food boxes distributed to families in need. It was driven by community giving, volunteer support and the shared belief that collective action can turn scarcity into hope.

By 2024, the program scaled significantly, reaching over 700 families across Lagos State through strategic partnerships with leading organizations including Paystack and The Alternative Bank. What we witnessed was more than distribution, it was dignity restored, community strengthened and the reminder that impact multiplies when institutions and individuals come together.

Our 2025 Goal: Reaching 1,000 Families in Lagos and Kebbi State
As we prepare for the third edition of the #1000forHer Food Drive in December 2025, our goal is ambitious and urgent: To reach 1,000 vulnerable families across Lagos and Kebbi State.
One food box costs ₦25,000, and every box delivered represents food security, dignity and hope for a household during Christmas. Each food box is carefully curated to support a family for 3–5 days during the festive period and includes:
- 5kg bag of rice
- Cooking oil
- Spaghetti
- Tomato paste
- Seasoning
- Cooking salt
Why #1000forHer Food Drive Matters
Nigeria continues to face rising inflation, food insecurity and economic pressure, with women and low-income households disproportionately affected. For many families, Christmas has become a season of survival rather than celebration. The #1000forHer Food Drive exists to:
- Alleviate short-term hunger
- Support women-led households
- Reduce festive season food insecurity
- Promote community solidarity and shared responsibility
- Restore dignity through access to basic food needs
This is not just food aid, it is humanitarian impact with dignity at its core.
