On July 25th, 2025, the SDGforHer team visited Olomu Community School in Ajah, Lagos, on the HerFutureFound Program, as part of our ongoing mission to empower and equip young girls in underserved communities with the knowledge they need to shape their futures. This impactful session, themed “Sustainable Career Paths,” focused on guiding SS2 girls through viable career options, the importance of skill development and making informed choices before registering for their senior secondary school exams (WAEC/NECO/JAMB).

During the session, we explored a wide range of career opportunities, highlighting in-demand fields, addressing outdated course choices, and emphasizing the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The girls were exposed to various professional development options that align with today’s rapidly changing world of work. What stood out was the active participation and curiosity from the students. They asked insightful questions and engaged in meaningful conversations about their career interests and aspirations, reflecting their hunger for growth and direction.

In addition to the career talk, we also addressed the critical issue of period poverty by distributing sanitary pads and other hygiene items. Each girl received a reusable tote bag containing sanitary supplies, refreshments, and essential items—supporting both their health and dignity.
This initiative is part of SDGforHer’s broader goal to ensure that young girls are not only academically prepared but also confident and informed about their life choices. So far, the program has empowered over 1,000 girls across seven public schools in underserved communities in Nigeria.

At SDGforHer, we believe that education, information, and access are key tools in breaking the cycle of poverty and building a future where every girl in Nigeria can thrive.
