On May 23rd, 2025, the SDGforHer team brought financial empowerment to the girls of Ken-Ade School in Makoko, Lagos, through our flagship initiative, the HerLittleKolo Program. This special session focused on girls aged 5–8, introducing them to essential concepts of money management, savings, and investment in a fun and interactive way.

Practical Learning for Lasting Impact
Our in-class lessons were designed to be engaging and relatable, using storytelling as a powerful teaching tool. The curriculum followed the journey of Tomiwa, a young girl who discovers the importance of saving through her little kolo (piggy bank). This narrative approach made the lessons both memorable and inspiring, showing the girls how savings can be a stepping stone to education and enlightenment.

Hands-On Experience
To reinforce the lessons, each participant received her own savings box, enabling her to put new skills into practice right away. The excitement was palpable as the girls personalized and decorated their kolos with financial-themed, empowering stickers, each message serving as a daily reminder of their savings goals. The session was highly interactive, with the girls eagerly asking and answering questions, demonstrating their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

Building a Brighter Future
Since its inception, the HerLittleKolo program has reached over 150 girls, equipping them with both financial knowledge and the tools to start their savings journey. By fostering money management skills from an early age, we are helping to shape a generation of financially independent and empowered young women.
We are proud to continue supporting girls in underserved communities, ensuring they have the resources and confidence to take charge of their financial futures.

Join us in making a difference, one small kolo at a time, by sponsoring a LittleKolo for a girl in an underserved community.
