On March 21, 2025, the HerFutureFound Program latest stop was Okesuna Senior Grammar School, Lagos Island, where we engaged 88 SS2 girls in a session on sustainable career paths. The workshop started with introductions and an overview of our organization’s mission. We then explored the concept of sustainable careers, linking it to their academic streams—Sciences, Commercial, and Arts.

Expanding Career Possibilities

We encouraged the girls to think beyond traditional career paths. For example, a Commercial student planning to study Economics can add value and stand out by learning complementary data analysis skills. The session emphasized that careers should not be limiting but should allow for continuous growth and development.

We also educated the girls on:

Developing Value in Career Choices – We highlighted the importance of building skills that enhance career prospects and create long-term opportunities.

Harnessing Innate Talents – The girls learned how their natural abilities can shape fulfilling careers rather than ones they simply endure.

Exploring Africa’s Top 20 Careers – We discussed high-demand professions and the qualifications needed for each, giving students a roadmap for future success.

The session was interactive, with students eagerly asking questions and sharing their aspirations. To support their journey, each participant received a goody bag containing: ✅ Sanitary pads – ensuring dignity and confidence. ✅ Pens, stationery, and snacks – helping them stay prepared and focused.
