SDGforHer Visits the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) on the 1000forHer Food Drive

On the 23rd of December, 2024, the 1000forHer Food drive proudly supported by Paystack, continues to spread joy, lend a hand and show appreciation to those who need it most in our community. Our second stop on brought us to the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) Masha Depot, where we met a remarkable group of women. These hardworking and dedicated sweepers play a vital role in keeping Lagos clean, often risking their safety to ensure our streets and highways remain pristine.

The purpose of our visit was clear: to distribute boxes of non-perishable food items to these women, offering them a measure of relief and support for their families during the festive period. Beyond the physical items, we wanted to acknowledge their incredible contribution to our city Lagos and remind them that their efforts are valued.

As we handed out the food boxes, we saw genuine smiles of gratitude and heard heartfelt words of thanks. It was a moment that reinforced the importance of community, compassion and collective action in driving positive change.

The management of LAWMA also extended their appreciation to SDGforHer and our partners at Paystack for making the initiative possible. Their gratitude echoed the sentiments of the women we were privileged to support, reminding us of the profound impact small acts of kindness can have.

A Call to Action

At SDGforHer, we believe in the power of collaboration to create lasting change. This visit was not just about distributing food; it was a celebration of resilience, hard work, and the incredible spirit of women who keep Lagos moving.

Join us on our journey to empower women, one community at a time. Together, we can create a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.
