On the 24th of October 2024, the Sustainable Development Goals for Her Initiative partnered with Axon Analytics Limited on the HerFutureFound Programme. The objective of this initiative is to empower young girls in underserved communities with the knowledge, skills and opportunity to thrive post secondary school education. The team visited Ebute Elefun Senior High School, Lagos-Island where we had 85 girls in SS2 participate in the program. Our participants varied between girls in the sciences, commercial and arts field of learning.

The event focused on challenging traditional career expectations, providing resources, and inspiring the girls to explore diverse career paths. We had various speakers speaking on the girls on STEM, career alignment, and native skill development. Our first speaker was Tope Taiwo, a project manager at Axon Analytics, she spoke to the girls on career alignment and simultaneously developing your skills while pursing your career of choice. Another speaker Daniella Ekeopara, a Sales Executive at Axon Analytics, spoke to the girls on the need to broaden your mind on career choices and to understand that there are many available options and not limiting yourself. Chidubem Ahumaraeze, a Digital Marketing Specialist spoke to the girls on the need to build confidence, self esteem and resilience while pursuing their passion. A volunteers of SDGforHer, Ehinome Abiele, a Business Development Manager at a tech company, spoke on her personal journey, transitioning from studying Applied Mathematics in her University, to learning coding and software development.

The program was met with enthusiasm, with many students and management expressing gratitude to the speakers and for the knowledge shared. Several girls demonstrated renewed excitement and clarity about their futures, eager to pursue their dreams and explore the possibilities that lie ahead. At SDGforHer, we are committed to sustaining this momentum by planning follow-up programs that offer continued mentorship and guidance.

In partnership with Axon Analytics Limited, we will be selecting two girls for internships at Axon Analytics. This opportunity will help the girls understand the realities of life after secondary education. We distributed learning materials, refreshments, and sanitary pads, all packed in a multi-use tote bag, to all our participants and their teachers. We look forward to visiting the next school as part of the HerFutureFound Program.
